Zeek Bar Allergy Information

Here at Zeek Bar we acknowledge the seriousness of tree nut and other food allergens, especially those of our children.

Our goal with respect to allergens is to be as transparent as possible and use as few allergens as necessary, while still delivering flavors even the pickiest of eaters will love.

Here is how our two flavors breakdown with regard to allergens:

Chocolate Chip Brownie

What this means

Contains Milk, Tree Nuts (Almond, Coconut)

Chocolate Chip Brownie actually contains milk, almonds, and coconut. Anyone with a milk, almond, or coconut allergy should not eat Zeek bars. A note on the milk - the milk is from the protein blend used (Whey Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Isolate) which has very low lactose levels. If your child is mildly lactose intolerant, we’ve never observed any stomach discomfort due to lactose. However, if your child has a milk allergy, this is an allergy to the actual milk protein and bars should be avoided.

Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, egg, and milk.

The manufacturer of our bars manufactures several other products. These other products may contain peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, egg, and milk. However, it is important to note that before our bars are made, all machines that our products come in contact with undergo a full allergen wash to ensure there are no physical allergens besides those listed on the label present in Zeek bars, in this case Milk, Almond, and Coconut. If you have a child with a severe allergen to any of these ingredients listed (peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, egg, and milk), it is best to avoid Zeek bars since there is a possibility of airborne trace-level contamination at the manufacturer. Such contamination is unlikely and would be of an extremely trace amount, but it is best to exercise an abundance of caution with such serious allergies.

A note on Coconut

The FDA considers coconut a “Tree Nut” and this is why it is listed as such on the nutrition facts. Many with tree nut allergies will not react to coconut in the same way they would to other tree nuts like almonds, walnuts, etc, but this should be determined at the individual level. If your child has never tired coconut and has a tree nut allergy, we would not recommend Zeek bars before you can confirm that they do not react to coconut.
