5 Healthy Snacks for Picky Eaters

5 Healthy Snacks for Picky Eaters

Maybe you're one of the lucky ones and your kiddos eat every vegetable without batting an eye. And to you we say: "Don't rub it in!"

More than likely you've got a little one or two that has taste and texture preferences that make getting him or her healthy nutrition a difficult task.

When we find a snack that our kiddos like and is healthy, it's worth its weight in gold.

Here are 5 nutrition-packed snack ideas for your picky eater.

1. Almond/Peanut Butter

Nut butters aren't only delicious, they're packed with protein and healthy fats. On top of that, they're extremely versatile, able to be added to lots of different foods. Of course, allergies can present a challenge here, but if you're able mix this super-snack in to your repertoire it's a fantastic option!

2. Low Sugar Yogurt

Yogurt is delicious, nutritious, and has lots of great health benefits for our kiddos' bellies! Yogurt comes in lots of different varieties and we recommend sticking with a Greek or Icelandic yogurt that's low in sugar. Or, perhaps try starting with a slightly higher sugar brand like Stonyfield then working your way to the lower sugar brands.

3. Oatmeal

You can add almost anything to oats and you can add oats to almost anything! Start with your basic morning oatmeal– figure out the texture (some like it soapy, others sticky) your kiddos prefer, then add fruits like blueberries and raspberries. From there branch out and try adding oats to smoothies or put them in the fridge for delicious overnight oats!

4. Chickpeas

Chickpeas are everywhere right now and for good reason! This plant based, crunchy snack is delicious and comes loaded with lots of nutrients. Try air frying your own batch and experimenting with your own seasonings, or grab a low-processed option from the snack aisle of your local grocer.

5. Zeek Kids Bars!

Of course we couldn't make a list without including Zeek Bars. Unlike other kids bars, Zeek Bars cut out the sugar (30% less sugar) and pack in the protein (9g protein) to deliver kids more nutrition in the flavors and textures they love. Zeek bars are especially great for fueling kids during long activities or sporting events.

If you're the parent of a picky eater, we recommend checking out Jenny Friedman who works with parents to comfortably introduce kids to new foods and get more variety in their diets.

Good luck!
