Balanced Nutrition- The Young Athlete Formula

The Young Athlete Formula- Balance

To properly fuel your young athlete, it is critical to achieve nutritional balance. The problem is, most nutrition bars are, by design, not engineered to be balanced.

The majority of bars on the market are designed for adults who have very specific health goals such as muscle gain, weight loss, or increased energy. The nutritional content of these adults bars is tailored to meet these specific goals and the result is highly unbalanced, specialized bars.

For example, “muscle building” bars have a large amount of protein (sometimes 25-30 grams) and keep sugars and carbohydrates at virtually zero often via artificial sweeteners. We broke down the nutrition facts of the 10 most popular adult bars here to illustrate this unbalance further.

These nutritional extremes do not support the needs of a young athlete.

We engineered HEROFUEL to provide the optimal balance of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats to fuel young athletes aged 6-14.

So, what exactly does balanced mean?

Nutritional Balance

Balanced means achieving harmony between the three macronutrients: carbohydrates, protein, and fats. After consulting with nutritionists, conducting over two years of research, and speaking directly with parents and coaches, we've concluded the best nutritional balance to properly fuel young athletes is 50% carbohydrates, 25% protein, and 25% fats.

Optimal Balance

As you can see, HEROFUEL is nearly identical to the optimal 50/25/25 nutritional balance.

Carbohydrate Balance

Overall nutritional balance is step one, but we go a step further. You're aware not all carbohydrates are the same. There are simple carbohydrates that provide quick energy and complex carbohydrates that provide sustained energy.

The carbohydrates in HEROFUEL are nearly exactly half simple carbohydrates (derived from honey and cane sugar) and half complex carbohydrates (almonds, cashews, and coconut) to provide your athlete with both quick and sustained energy. This blend means your athlete will be fueled for hours with no risk of a blood sugar spike or an energy "crash".

Simple vs. Complex Carb Balance

These two factors, nutritional balance and carbohydrate balance, lead to the optimal nutrition label for young athletes:

Because HEROFUEL is nearly perfectly symmetrical with 50% carbohydrates, 25% Protein and 25% Fats, you don't have to think about assembling a variety of snacks to achieve balanced fuel for your athlete. HEROFUEL has you covered!
