Jakob is a young kid with a lot of great insight into the world of wrestling. Jakob has a great way of looking at wrestling and how it affects all aspects of his life, and it makes him a true HERO. He's been a wonderful addition to our Quest. More than anything, Jakob knows how to move on from losses without letting them get to him, and he knows that he has to always stay focused on the match ahead, not the match behind. And, just like any good wrestler, Jakob has his goals and aspirations mapped out, so he knows what he needs to do to get the job done in the future. We have every ounce of faith that he will accomplish all of them.

If you see Jakob around, or if you want to check him out on our Facebook, be sure to congratulate him. Be sure to read on and learn a little more about Jakob, and we're sure that you can find some invaluable insight along the way.

Why do you enjoy wrestling?

I love wrestling because it teaches me a lot about life, how to win and lose with dignity, how to be mentally tough, as well as physically tough. I have made a lot of friends on my team and throughout the state and country through

What is the most important thing wrestling has taught you?

I have learned to work hard on and off the mat and be dedicated.

What's the best advice your coach has given you?

You have to shake off the last match and focus on the next match without letting the result of the last match get in the way.

How do you handle tough defeats?

I have learned to move on and focus on what's ahead and not on what's behind. And to learn from my mistakes.

What’s your proudest achievement as a wrestler?

Achieving All-American status at Freestyle Nationals!

What's your favorite wrestling move?

My favorite move is throwing using the over-under head lock.

What is your favorite subject in school?

I like math the most!

Do you play any sports aside from wrestling?

Yes, I play Pop Warner Football.

Do you have any other hobbies outside of wrestling?

I love boating, swimming, and wakeboarding.

What are your goals for your wrestling career?

To continue to improve and grow with this sport, and to beat wrestlers that I have been unable to beat so far. To travel to State, Regional, and National tournaments and to place at all of them. To wrestle all 4 years of high school and to wrestle in college.

What are your goals for the next 1-5 years?

1.)To make the Washington State School Boy National team.

2.)Wrestle Varsity my freshman year in high school and place top 3 at State.

3.)To make Honor Roll in school.

What is your biggest area you could improve?

Shooting more, and I like to throw but I need to start using the single or double more often.
